Yesterday I spent part of the afternoon with my family and staff creating disporportionate balloon
animals (that's just how they turned out for me) and pressing temporary tattoos for kids at Martin's Super Market. It was part of Top 40 U93 radio station's annual "Roofsit" to raise funds and awareness for abuse and neglect of children. It's time well spent.
Our church has supported this effort every year for the last 3 years or so. Our partnership with U93 started when our own Corey Mann, High School Director Extraordinaire, was the number one morning show DJ for the station. I love being part of a church who values people and understands love enough to partner with others who are doing great work. This is Jesus' kind of work - whether he gets acknowledged or not.
Our senior pastor, Mark Beeson, has personally been part of this thing each year as well. In fact at 10:15 this morning, Mark took to the airwaves to encourage the stations' work and cast vision about our identity in the community. Here's a snipit of that radio interview

It's a Jesus thing, whoever's doing the loving.
