The scriptures are clear. Jesus said, "You're in the world, but not part of it." Paul said, "Come out from them; be separate."
Many Christians have read these teachings and built walls to protect themselves from the stain and shame from a sinful culture. They've created a safe zone as "church," celebrating pious purity with their self-righteous noses in the air. It's a sad, sad commentary that dismisses Jesus' call to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. To be "friends of sinners," if we're at all like Jesus.
